Takeaway and restaurant plates
A takeaway name is a shape, not a species. Split the filling, the pastry fat, the fryer, and the sauce. Shrimp/prawn is a cited school split — not a lunchbox yes.
Two-minute takeaway check
- Name the filling. Shawarma, doner and gyro do not name the animal. Gyoza is usually pork unless it says otherwise. Shrimp/prawn is a cited Hanafi split — follow the scholar you follow.
- Then the pastry and the fryer. Samosa, spring roll, doughnut, baklava: shared oil with meat is a live question.
- Then the bread and the sauce. Pita, naan, roti, garlic sauce, tzatziki. A vegan mark on a falafel mix does not certify the shop grill.
