Why not just mark everything haram or halal?
Because E471 from palm oil and E471 from pork fat share a number. Source-dependent exists so the pack, the mark, or the manufacturer has to finish the job.
Does mashbooh mean haram?
No. Mashbooh means the origin or process is not confirmed. This site never promotes mashbooh to verified-haram.
If it is vegan, is it halal?
A genuine vegan statement rules out animal fat and gelatin, which settles many source-dependent rows. It does not settle alcohol carriers, and it is not a substitute for your scholar on disputed items such as shellac or cochineal.
Does a barcode lookup certify the product?
No. The barcode fetches an ingredients list from Open Food Facts so you can run the same additive check. It does not audit the factory.
How often is this updated?
