What to verify
For E150 in this product: is the source plant, synthetic, or animal? If animal, which species and slaughter method?
The detail
Caramel colour is made by controlled heating of food sugars, sometimes with acids or salts as catalysts. No animal-derived input is part of the standard process, and MuslimConsumerGroup lists E150a–d as halal. It is absent from the Halal Authority India conditional lists. Note this is separate from caramel flavour or caramel-filled confectionery, where butter, cream or gelatine in the finished product are their own questions.
What the sources say
Grade C cards are the old notes. They are not the current label. A later grade A or B citation is dated on its own card.

How to check it yourself
E150 itself needs no source check. In a finished product like a caramel sweet, check the other ingredients — butter, cream and gelatine are the usual issues.
